The New Citroën Jumpy: Why pay more for a car?
Citroen has long been a key player on the
light commercial vehicle (LCV) market.
The constant match between Citroen's range and market
trends enabled the Marque to take 10.2% of the European
market (26 countries) and the number-three spot in 2005.
The New Citroën Jumpy is the latest exciting addition to the Citroën van range. Building on the
success of its predecessor, it fits neatly between the Berlingo and the New Relay, complementing the
rest of the Citroën van range perfectly.
Within the New Jumpy range itself, there is a wealth of choice. The number of variants in the New
Jumpy range has more than doubled in comparison to that of its predecessor, and the range now
features:
– a bigger payload: the New Jumpy has a much bigger payload, ranging from 1000kg to 1200kg,
versus a range of 815kg to 900kg on the previous version.
– more load volume: the New Jumpy combines two wheelbases and body lengths (L1, L2) and
two roof heights (H1, H2), where the previous version had only one body length and one roof
height. The load volume has been increased significantly to a range of 5m3 to 7m3, versus 4m3
for the previous Jumpy.
– a extensive range of body styles and trims: New Jumpy is available in Panel and Window
Van and Platform Cab variants for goods transportation and bodywork conversions, as well as
Combi variants for transporting people. There are also two trim levels available on the New
Jumpy range, allowing customers to further tailor it to their requirements.
There is a choice of three Euro IV engines in the New Citroën Jumpy range: 1.6HDi 90hp, 2.0HDi
120hp and 2.0HDi 136hp DPFS (Diesel Particulate Filter System). These deliver the impressive
performance that has come to be associated with Citroën diesel technology.
Equally impressive are the New Jumpy's safety credentials: driver's airbag, ABS and EBA are fitted as
standard, with passenger, lateral and curtain airbags, and ESP (including ERM Electronic Roll Mitigation
System and Traction Control) as options. On vehicles equipped with pneumatic rear suspension, the
centre of gravity is lowered, making the vehicle safer to drive.
Load accessibility is easier than ever in the New Jumpy, which preserves the two sliding side loading
doors of its predecessor, equipment which few competitors provide as standard. At the rear of the
vehicle, the New Jumpy's two solid panel doors can be opened easily with either hand, for effortless
loading and unloading.
Beyond the practicality of its loadspace, the New Jumpy range is available with sophisticated,
innovative equipment which rivals that of any van in the sector: Trafficmaster Smartnav satellite
navigation, Trackstar GPS stolen vehicle tracking, rear pneumatic suspension, rear parking sensors,
cruise control and variable speed limiter, automatic illumination of headlights and automatic windscreen
wipers, full air conditioning and up to six airbags.
All of this is complemented by New Jumpy's dynamic styling; fluid lines framing a tough, modern front
end with a robust grille incorporating prominent Citroën chevrons and an oversized bumper for maximum
protection. Inside, the layout of the driving position, soundproofing and ergonomic design ensure that the
cabin satisfies the requirements of the most demanding business users.
