CHARGING SOLUTION FOR YOUR ELECTRIC OR HYBRID VEHICLE

At home, at the office, when going out near your home or on a getaway, numerous charging solutions exist to allow you to fully and easily enjoy your electric or plug-in hybrid Citroën.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CHARGING

THE ELECTRIC NETWORK

It can be single-phase – most home installations – or three-phase. Before choosing your charging solution you must check the type of installation you have.

THE CHARGING STATION

It defines the distributed power and the charging time of your electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle.

Several solutions are available: standard charging with a domestic or reinforced socket, accelerated charging with a Wall box type charging station at home or on the public network, fast and super fast charging on the public and motorway network. Superchargers from 50kw are equipped with their own cable, they are not compatible with plug-in hybrid vehicles.

THE CHARGING CABLE

The speed of charging also depends on the power that the cable can accommodate.

THE ON-BOARD CHARGER

Its role is to convert the alternating current supplied by sockets and charging stations (excluding superchargers) into direct current to power the battery. Its power also determines the recharge times.

More powerful on-board chargers may therefore be available as an option, depending on the vehicle, to benefit from optimized charging times.

BATTERY

The traction battery is guaranteed for 8 years or 160,000 km for at least 70% of its charging capacity*. Our electric vehicle batteries are compatible with fast or super fast charging available on the public network.

*For Citroën Ami: 3 years or 40,000 km

UNITS OF MEASUREMENT

Kilowatt (kW) and kilowatt hour (kWh) are two units of measurement with similar names. However, they express different concepts.

The kilowatt to know the power of the engine

The kilowatt (kW) allows you to know the power of the engine of your electric vehicle. It is multiplied by approximately 1.36 to get its horsepower.

For example, the ë-C4 Electric engine is 100 kW or 136 horsepower.

Kilowatt hour to measure battery energy

A vehicle's electric motor is supplied with energy by a battery whose capacity is expressed in kilowatt hours (kWh), or the amount of kW that the battery can provide per hour.

For example, the ë-C4 Electric battery contains 50 kWh of energy. Which is equivalent to 50 liters of gasoline.

The kilowatt to estimate the charging time

The power of charging stations varies from 3.7 kW to 22 kW for domestic terminals and goes up to 100 kW, or even more, for public terminals. The higher the measurement, the greater the power delivered. The higher the number of kW, the shorter the charging time.

For example, an 11 kW wallbox allows you to store 11 kW of energy. It therefore takes less than 5 hours to recharge the ë-C4 Electric's 50 kWh battery.

THEIR CABLE FOR EVERY LOAD

Several types of cables are available to optimize the charging of your vehicle. These cables are available as standard, as an option or as an accessory depending on the vehicle.

Standard mode 2 cable

This cable can provide you with up to 1.8 kW of power.

It is used to recharge from a domestic outlet.

Reinforced mode 2 cable

This cable can provide you with up to 3.7 kW of power.

It is used to recharge on a reinforced Green up type domestic socket, which considerably improves charging times compared to a standard socket.

Single-phase mode 3 cable

This cable can provide you with up to 7.4 kW of power.

It can be used with a wallbox installed at home or at a public charging station. Home charging on a wallbox allows you to regain full autonomy in 2 hours for a plug-in hybrid vehicle and in less than 1 night for an electric vehicle.

On a plug-in hybrid vehicle, you will need to take the 7.4kW on-board charger option to benefit from this type of charging.

Three-phase mode 3 cable

Specific to electric vehicles, this cable can provide you with up to 22kW.

It is compatible with both a single-phase (7.4kW wallbox) or three-phase (11kW wallbox) installation at home or at work.

It is ideal for regular charging at public terminals. On three-phase installations, it will allow you to benefit from better charging times.

To benefit from the advantages of this type of charging, your vehicle must be equipped with an 11kW on-board charger (optional).

PRIVATE CHARGING AT HOME OR WORK

Recharging your hybrid vehicle: nothing could be simpler

You can easily charge your hybrid vehicle on a daily basis using a standard domestic socket, with the domestic socket cable supplied as standard.

If you want faster charging, opt for a reinforced socket or a wall box. Both have different characteristics:

  • The wallbox, the most powerful, reduces your charging time as much as possible.
  • The reinforced grip, for its part, represents a good compromise. More economical, it offers slower charging than the wallbox.

With a 7.4 kW wallbox socket

You recover 100% in less than 2 hours, or 55 km of electric range.

Range in electric mode between 54 and 55 km depending on the options fitted to the car. Battery life may vary depending on actual conditions of use.

With a reinforced 3.7 kW domestic socket

You recover 100% in less than 4 hours, or 55 km of electric range.

Range in electric mode between 54 and 55 km depending on the options fitted to the car. Battery life may vary depending on actual conditions of use.

With a classic domestic outlet

You recover 100% in less than 7 hours, or 55 km of electric range.

Range in electric mode between 54 and 55 km depending on the options fitted to the car. Battery life may vary depending on actual conditions of use.

Recharging your electric vehicle: simple and practical solutions

Several charging methods are possible depending on the kilometers you cover daily and the charging solutions you also have outside your home.

Wallbox 7.4kW or 11kW: Installing a wallbox charging station is the ideal solution if you want to benefit from optimized charging times. Our partners are available to support you from audit to installation. This type of installation will allow you to benefit from government assistance.

Reinforced domestic socket: Green’up type socket. Economical to install, it is suitable for you if you drive little and allows you to recover up to 60% of the charge in 1 night.

Standard socket: A simple connection to a wall socket. It is not preferred for other electric vehicles because charging times are long, up to 30% charged in 1 night. It can be used as an occasional charging solution. This is the Citroën Ami charging solution.

For ë-C4 Electric, you have several charging choices:

  • 100kW public charging: 80% of charge in 30 minutes;
  • Wallbox 11 kW: 5:00 a.m.;
  • Wallbox 7.4 kW: 7:30 a.m.;
  • Green'up type reinforced domestic socket: 4h30 for 100km or 9h for 100km on a standard domestic socket.

For ë-SpaceTourer Electric, you have several charging choices:

  • 100kW public charging: 80% in 30 minutes for a 50kWh battery and in 45 minutes for a 75kWh battery;
  • Wallbox 11kW: from 4:45 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. depending on battery size;
  • Wallbox 7.4kW: from 7:30 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. depending on battery size;
  • Green'up reinforced socket: up to 60% charge overnight.
